A pear tree cannot bear an apple.

A fancy old discolored magazine caught my attention while cleaning up the kitchen one night. Reading the cover page, it is Orig Magazine, a showbiz & lifestyle mag, published in the year 1987.

Dad knocked in and said it was he who brought the magazine from our house in Bataan. He pointed out on a portion of the cover, handwritten is "Jean Ponce Write Up Inside". He explains that Mom used to be a writer before (I know Dad..Hehe!) But, that would be the first time I'll get the chance to read one of her works, ever.

Dad excitedly opened up the mag, looking for Mom's article. I can feel he's proudness of Mom, and of course I feel the same way too. Mom wrote on various entertainment print media and tv before. Here are some shots of the mag:

ORIG Magazine

Mom's handwriting. - She told me she tried saving up copies of her work so there would come a time she can show it to her future daughter. So sad, we transferred houses several times now, that the other copies she kept were lost and have been gone.

Mom's article was entitled "Diamonds are Forever, But...". It talked about gemstones which were very popular and indemand that time. Explaining that these are all natural and rare, and the worry that there might come the time that these gems would suddenly vanish.

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED.

They say, "A pear tree cannot bear an apple." True enough. My passion for writing might have been from my Mom's genes. It's in the blood, you know. And just as how Fergie sings it ... I got it from my Momma! ;)
